    • It includes all the states and Union Territories of the country. India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic with a parliamentary system of government.
  • Constitution of India: It was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November, 1949 and came into force on 26 January, 1950.
    • At the time of its adoption, the Constitution had 395 articles and 8 schedules and contained approximately 145,000 words.
