Reducing Risk of Zoonoses in Food Production
The World Health Organization (WHO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have developed guidelines to limit the risk of zoonotic infections being transmitted to humans in food production and distribution chains.
About Zoonoses
- A zoonosis, according to the World Health Organization, is an infectious disease that spreads from a non-human animal to people. (In the infographic, the pathogen transfer from animal to human is discussed.)
