About James Webb Space Telescope

  • It is the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) most powerful infrared telescope, and it is considered a successor to the Hubble Telescope, extending and complementing previous discoveries.
  • The Hubble Space Telescope, which was launched into low-Earth orbit in 1990, has made over 1.4 million observations, including following interstellar objects, capturing a comet smashing with Jupiter, and detecting moons surrounding Pluto.
