- Reduce the incidence and prevalence of uncommon diseases through a comprehensive and integrated prevention strategy.
- To provide individuals with rare diseases with affordable health care.
- To place a greater emphasis on indigenous research and medicine manufacture in India.
Categorization of Rare Diseases in 3 Groups
- Group 1: Disorders amenable to one-time curative treatment.
- Group 2: Those requiring long term or lifelong treatment.
