Anti-microbial Resistance

During World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying held a session on the National Action Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) (WAAW - November 18-24, 2021).

The theme of WAAW this (2021) year was "Spread awareness, stop resistance."

About Anti-microbial Resistance

  • It is the ability of any microorganism (bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, etc.) to develop resistance to antimicrobial drugs (such as antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, antimalarials, and anthelmintics) that are used to treat infections. As a result, standard treatments become ineffective, infections persist, and infection can spread to others.
