Forest Rights Act
On 13th September, 2021, Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to implement the Forest Rights Act, 2006.
Need
- This step is being taken in view of the large scale encroachment of huge forest lands and its illegal sale in Jammu and Kashmir.

Socio-economic Development of Tribal People
- It will help elevate the socio-economic status of a sizeable section of the 14 lakh population of tribals and nomadic communities, including Gujjar-Bakerwals and Gaddi-Sippis, in the Union Territory.
