PoshanVatika: Addressing Malnutrition
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) while launching POSHAN 2.0 ,urged all aspirational districts of the country to make a commitment to establish a PoshanVatika (nutrition garden) during the nutrition month starting from September 1 for the protection of Severe Acute Malnourished (SAM) children.
Need
- According to government data, more than 9.2 lakh children in India are ‘severely acute malnourished’, with the most in Uttar Pradesh followed by Bihar.
- An estimated 9,27,606severely acute malnourished children from six months to six years were identified across the country till Novembe,2020.
