Building a Comprehensive Human Single-cell Atlas
A team of researchers in China recently took a significant step towards the creation of a comprehensive human single-cell atlas, one that would describe which genes are expressed in various cells in all parts of the body.
- The different cell types were isolated from respective tissue samples. Each cell was then sequenced using a special tool called Microwell-seq which the team had previously developed. It allows for fast sequencing of a large numbers of cells. The researchers generated a map using a method they devised for classifying cell information.
