Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir Ousted
- President Omar al-Bashir, who ruled Sudan for 30 years, was on 11thApril overthrown in a coup by the armed forces which announced a two-year period of military rule which would be followed by elections.
- Defence Minister informed that Bashir, was under arrest in a “safe place” and a military council was now running the country.
- A three-month state of emergency and a nationwide ceasefire has been imposed and the constitution has been suspended.
