Directed Protein Evolution
A team of scientists recently developed a new method of directed protein evolution to optimize proteins directly in mammalian cells for various applications. This has taken protein engineering efforts to a new level.

- In the current research, using a new method of directed evolution of proteins, scientists successfully created a fluorescent protein named mCRISPRred, which fluoresces brightly in lysosomes- the highly acidic cell vesicles that are difficult to label.
