Recently, parliament of India passed,three farm bills amid massive protests by farmers across many states. Similar upsurge of protests had followed the passage of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Such incidents raise the question about the status of public protests in India. Also, the Supreme Court has delivered its verdict on the Shaheen bagh protests that there is not an indefinite right to protest anywhere for indefinite time.
On the other hand, Public protests are the hallmark of a free, democratic society, whose logic demands that the voice of the people should be heard by those in power and decisions be reached ....
