World Food Programme

The Nobel Peace Prize 2020 was awarded to World Food Programme (WFP) for “its efforts to combat hunger, bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and preventing the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict”.

About WFP

  • WFP, established in 1961 and headquartered in Rome, Italy, is an intergovernmental organisation and UN’s primary agency that works towards achieving the SDG Goal of eradicating hunger (Goal 2) by 2030.
