CSIR-IMMT Signs Mineral Research Pacts with Russia

On 25th April 2025, India’s Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) signed two strategic agreements with top Russian institutions to boost collaboration in critical mineral research and sustainable resource development.

  • CSIR-IMMT signed Joint Declarations of Intent (JDIs) with JSC Giredmet, linked to Rosatom, and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST MISIS), Moscow.
  • The agreements aim to enhance joint research in advanced mineral processing and critical mineral technologies essential for clean energy and strategic sectors.
  • The CSIR-IMMT team also met with India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, to discuss how mineral R&D can support India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat goals.
  • These partnerships reflect a shared interest in strengthening research in process metallurgy and securing supply chains for critical and rare earth minerals.
