Successful Trials of Long-Range Glide Bomb Gaurav

Between April 08–10, 2025, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the Release Trials of the Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) ‘Gaurav’ from a Su-30 MKI aircraft.
Key Points
- Weapon Class: ‘Gaurav’ is a 1,000 kg-class indigenously developed glide bomb with a range of nearly 100 km and pin-point accuracy.
- Trial Platform: Trials were conducted using the Su-30 MKI aircraft, targeting land sites on islands.
- Multi-Configuration Testing: The bomb was tested across multiple stations with different warhead configurations.
- Development Agencies: Jointly developed by Research Centre Imarat, Armament R&D Establishment, and Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.
- Industry Collaboration: Realised with support from Adani Defence Systems, Bharat Forge, and several MSMEs.
- Certification: Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification and DG of Aeronautical Quality Assurance ensured certification and quality control.
- Induction Path: These trials pave the way for induction of ‘Gaurav’ into the Indian Air Force’s arsenal.
