India Launches Aadhaar Governance Portal for Authentication

On 28th February 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) introduced the Aadhaar Governance Portal (http://swik.meity.gov.in) to simplify and accelerate the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests, aiming to enhance service delivery and governance.

It is a part of amendments to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2025.
It aims to support good governance by improving access to welfare services, streamlining authentication approvals, and reducing procedural delays.
The initiative enhances India’s digital ecosystem by facilitating Aadhaar authentication for both government and private entities in sectors like healthcare, education, e-commerce, and hospitality.
The platform provides a step-by-step guide for entities seeking authentication approval, ensuring seamless onboarding and compliance with Aadhaar regulations.
Face authentication technology may be integrated into customer-facing applications to enable faster and more secure identity verification.
Service providers can use Aadhaar authentication for purposes such as staff attendance, customer onboarding, and e-KYC verification, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
