- 28 Feb 2025
On 28th February 2025, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) introduced the Aadhaar Governance Portal (http://swik.meity.gov.in) to simplify and accelerate the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests, aiming to enhance service delivery and governance.
- It is a part of amendments to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2025.
- It aims to support good governance by improving access to welfare services, streamlining authentication approvals, and reducing procedural delays.
- The initiative enhances India’s digital ecosystem by facilitating Aadhaar authentication for both government and private entities in sectors like healthcare, education, e-commerce, and hospitality.
- The platform provides a step-by-step guide for entities seeking authentication approval, ensuring seamless onboarding and compliance with Aadhaar regulations.
- Face authentication technology may be integrated into customer-facing applications to enable faster and more secure identity verification.
- Service providers can use Aadhaar authentication for purposes such as staff attendance, customer onboarding, and e-KYC verification, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
