Legendary Singer P Jayachandran Passes Away

On 9th January 2025, Renowned playback singer and National Award winner P Jayachandran passed away at 80 in Thrissur, Kerala, after battling cancer.
- P Jayachandran, a celebrated figure in Malayalam cinema, contributed to Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi music with over 16,000 songs.
- His career began in 1965 with “Oru Mullappoomalayumaayi” from Kunhalimarikkar, though his first film song heard by audiences was “Manjalayil Mungi Thorthi” from Kalithozhan.
- Jayachandran worked with iconic composers such as MS Baburaj, G Devarajan, Ilaiyaraaja, Vidyasagar, and AR Rahman, earning acclaim for his evergreen collaborations.
- His Tamil Nadu State Film Award-winning debut with AR Rahman, “Kaththaazha Kaatu Vazhi,” marked his foray into Hindi cinema as well, introduced by Rahman.
- Beyond films, Jayachandran gained recognition in devotional music, contributing to the genre in Tamil and Malayalam.
