Lithuanian Film Toxic Wins Golden Peacock at IFFI

On 28th November, 2024, Lithuanian film Toxic won the prestigious Golden Peacock for Best Film, awarded to director Saulė Bliuvaitė and producer Giedre Burokaite, along with a cash prize of Rs. 40,00,000.
- Romanian director Bogdan Muresanu received the Silver Peacock for Best Director for The New Year That Never Came, lauded for its exceptional production design and tragicomic portrayal of a nation on the brink of revolution.
- French actor Clément Faveau was named Best Actor (Male) for his nuanced performance in Holy Cow, praised for its emotional depth and authenticity.
- Vesta Matulytė and Ieva Rupeikaitė shared the Best Actor (Female) award for their compelling portrayals in Toxic, which depicted the harsh realities of adolescence in an economically deprived society.
- American director Sarah Friedland received the Best Debut Feature Film award for Familiar Touch, while French-Tunisian actor Adam Bessa earned a Special Mention for his role in Who Do I Belong To?
