Paramesh Sivamani Takes Charge as ICG Director General

On 15th October, 2024, Paramesh Sivamani assumed office as the 26th Director General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), following his interim leadership after the sudden passing of former DG Rakesh Pal.

  • Sivamani, who was appointed Additional Director General in September 2022, took on additional responsibilities as DG in August 2024 after the untimely death of DG Rakesh Pal.
  • A specialist in navigation and direction, he has commanded major ICG vessels, including advanced offshore patrol vessels Samar and Vishwast.
  • His previous leadership roles included commanding the ICG's Eastern and Western regions, during which key operations such as drug seizures, rescue missions, and joint international exercises were accomplished.
  • He is a recipient of prestigious awards, including the Tatrakshak Medal (2014) and the President Tatrakshak Medal (2019), and is an alumnus of the National Defence College and Defence Services Staff College.
