77th Regional Committee Session

On 7-9th October, 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the 77th session of its Regional Committee for Southeast Asia in New Delhi, bringing together health ministers and delegates from 11 member nations to address pressing health issues.

India's Health Minister JP Nadda was elected as the Chairperson for the 77th session, underscoring India’s leadership role in shaping regional health strategies.
The Southeast Asia region, home to over two billion people, faces significant epidemiological and demographic challenges, including rising non-communicable diseases and mental health burdens.
In his opening remarks, Nadda emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in strengthening health systems and addressing shared health challenges in the region.
