B Srinivasan Appointed NSG Director General

On 27th August 2024, Senior IPS officer B Srinivasan has been appointed as the Director General of the National Security Guard (NSG).

  • B Srinivasan, a 1992 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Bihar cadre, will lead the NSG as its new Director General.
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has officially approved his appointment, effective from the date of joining until August 31, 2027, coinciding with his retirement.
  • Srinivasan’s appointment was confirmed by a Personnel Ministry order issued on August 27, 2024.
  • His new role positions him at the helm of India's premier counter-terrorism and hostage rescue unit.
  • The NSG, known for its specialized skills in counter-terrorism, will benefit from Srinivasan's extensive experience in the police service.
