Satish Kumar

Senior Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officer Satish Kumar has been appointed as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, effective September 1.

Satish Kumar, currently serving as Member (Traction & Rolling Stock) in the Railway Board, has been promoted to the top post with the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kumar, an officer from the 1986 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, brings over three decades of experience in national transport to his new role.
His career includes serving as General Manager of North Central Railway in Prayagraj, as well as various roles in the Jhansi Division, Diesel Locomotive Works (Varanasi), and Patiala Locomotive Works.
Kumar has been trained in Total Quality Management under a UNDP program in 1996 and has managed numerous projects throughout his career.
