President Droupadi Murmu

On 4th August, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu began a six-day visit to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Head of State to these countries.

She will visit Fiji from August 5-7, where she will meet with President Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, and address the Fijian Parliament.
This visit to Fiji is historic as it marks the first time an Indian Head of State has traveled to the island nation.
On August 8-9, President Murmu will visit New Zealand, where she will meet Governor-General Cindy Kiro, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters.
The New Zealand visit is the first presidential trip from India to the country in eight years, and Governor-General Kiro will host a banquet in her honor.
The final leg of the tour will take her to Timor-Leste on August 10, where she will hold a bilateral meeting with President Horta and engage with the local Indian community.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan highlighted that this tour is significant for strengthening diplomatic ties and expanding India's global outreach.
