On 3rd August, 2024, Daljit Singh Chawdhary, Director General of Sahastra Seema Bal (SSB), assumed additional responsibilities as the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
- Daljit Singh Chawdhary, a 1990 batch Indian Police Service officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has taken over as the Director General of the BSF in addition to his role with the SSB.
- Chawdhary has 34 years of service experience, including key roles in Uttar Pradesh and central deputations since 2017, notably as ADG in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and SDG in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
- He assumed the position of DG SSB on January 23, 2024, and now adds the BSF leadership role to his responsibilities.
- Chawdhary is recognized for his expertise as a marksman and a qualified skydiver.
- His distinguished service has been acknowledged with multiple awards, including four Police Medals for Gallantry, a Police Medal for Meritorious Service, the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and the Ati Utkrisht Seva Medal.
- The BSF, under his additional charge, continues to be the largest Border Guarding Force in the country.
