Upendra Dwivedi

On June 30th, 2024, Upendra Dwivedi i took charge as the 30th Chief of the Army Staff in New Delhi. During his long and distinguished service spanning nearly 40 years, he has served in different capacities.

General Upendra Dwivedi was commissioned into the Infantry (Jammu and Kashmir Rifles) of the Indian Army on 15^th December, 1984.
In the rank of Lieutenant General, the officer has tenanted important appointments including Director General Infantry and General Officer Commanding in Chief (Headquarters Northern Command) from 2022 to 2024.
He has been Inspector General Assam Rifles as Major General and Sector commander as Brigadieri.
He was also involved in modernising and equipping of the largest Command of the Indian Army, where he steered the induction of Indigenous equipment as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
He has been decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and three GOC-in-C Commendation Cards.
