Open Network for Digital Commerce

On 17th May, 2024, the DPIIT announced that Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) recorded over 70 lakh transactions, showcasing significant growth in democratizing digital commerce.
- ONDC reported over 70 lakh transactions in April 2024, indicating robust growth and adoption of the digital commerce platform.
- Over 5 lakh sellers are now part of the ONDC network, with more than 70% being small or medium-sized enterprises.
- More than 125 ecosystem stakeholders, including startups and unicorns, have signed Letters of Intent (LoI) to join ONDC.
- Startups are crucial in the ONDC ecosystem, driving innovation, fostering competition, and enhancing consumer choice.
- The ONDC platform addresses challenges faced by startups in creating and discovering markets, lowering entry barriers to digital commerce.
- The not-for-profit ONDC entity, under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013, manages and operates the network, maintaining infrastructure and defining rules of engagement.
