Abhay Thakur Appointed as India's Ambassador to Myanmar

On 26th March, senior diplomat Abhay Thakur was appointed as India's envoy to Myanmar amidst delicate situation.

Abhay Thakur, presently Officer on Special Duty in MEA, appointed as India's Ambassador to Myanmar.

Thakur, a 1992-batch IFS officer, served as sous-sherpa of G20 process during India's presidency.
Appointment comes at a crucial juncture amid widespread protests in Myanmar since military coup.
Thakur expected to take up the assignment shortly.
India emphasizes the need for return of inclusive federal democracy in Myanmar through dialogue.
Thakur participated in G20 Development Working Group Meeting in Brasilia.
