On 16th March, retired bureaucrat Navneet Sehgal was appointed as Chairperson of Prasar Bharati for a three-year term by the Government of India.

  • The post had been vacant since February 2020 after the completion of A. Surya Prakash's tenure.
  • Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar chaired the selection panel, with the Press Council of India chairperson and a nominee of the President completing the three-member panel.
  • The Prasar Bharati Chairman's tenure is for three years or until the age of 70.
