On 21st February, 2024, Union Cabinet approved continuation of ‘Safety of Women’ scheme.
- Scheme allocated Rs 1,179.72 Cr for 2021-22 to 2025-26, funded by MHA and Nirbhaya Fund.
- Focus on stringent deterrence through legal amendments in IPC, CrPC, and Evidence Act.
- Collaboration with states for projects like ERSS 2.0, upgrading forensic labs, and cyber-crime prevention.
- Objectives include timely intervention, higher efficiency in investigation of crimes against women.
- Projects cover areas like Cyber Crime Prevention, DNA Analysis, and capacity building of investigators.
- Emphasis on Women Help Desks, Anti-human Trafficking Units, and training of prosecutors.
