National Wildlife Action Plan (NWAP)

The National Wildlife Action Plan was launched in 2017 for the preservation of genetic diversity and sustainable development. This is the 3^rd Action Plan which was drafted by a 12-member committee headed by JC Kala, former secretary of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

• The Plan focuses on preservation of genetic diversity and sustainable development. It has five components, 17 themes, 103 conservation actions and 250 projects.

The five components are –

1. Strengthening and promoting the integrated management of wildlife and their habitats;
2. Adaptation to climate change and promoting integrated sustainable management of aquatic biodiversity in India;
