The constitution of India consists of the following provisions for the protection and welfare of minorities:
Article 15 (1) & (2) – Prohibits discrimination against citizens on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
Article 16 (1) & (2) – Prohibits discrimination in matters of employment under the state on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
Article 25(1) - Freedom of conscience and right to freely profess, practise and propagate religion.
