The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO Committee) was established by ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) resolution of 21 June 1946. It is associated with UN in following ways:
Consultative Status with ECOSOC: Consultative status with the Economic and Social Council provides NGOs with access not only to ECOSOC, but also to its many subsidiary bodies.
Association with the United Nations Department of Global Communications: Approximately 1,300 NGOs associated with the UN and support its efforts to disseminate information on the priority issues on its agenda.
