Renewable Energy Now Accounts for a Third of Global Power Capacity: IRENA
According to International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), a third of global power generation capacity is now being fuelled by renewable energy sources.
Asia accounted for 61% of new capacity in 2018 and continued to dominate the global solar capacity expansion. China, India, Japan and Republic of Korea accounted for most of this.

India has been working on the world’s largest global green energy programme with an installed renewable energy capacity of 74.79GW.
The country’s energy demand is likely to go up by 2.7-3.2 times between 2012 and 2040 fuelled by schemes such as Saubhagya Yojana which has already provided 99.93% targeted ....
