Launched in 2009 to cover a period of 10 years (till 2019) by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, this programme aims at –
Improving Urban Infrastructure and Services in the areas of Water Supply, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management and
Project Management and Capacity Building of the urban local bodies through institutional and financial reforms.
One of the important sub-schemes under the programme is Lumpsum Provision Scheme for North Eastern States. Here 10% of the total budget provision for the Ministries or Departments will be spent on the projects/schemes of development for the North Eastern Region including Sikkim. ....
