National Road Transport Policy

For comprehensive development of the road transport sector, the Government had initiated necessary process by constituting a committee on National Road Transport Policy. The committee was headed by the then Principal Secretary of Karnataka Shri D. Thangaraj.

• The endeavor of the National Road Transport Policy (NRTP) was to promote modern, energy efficient and environment friendly road transport with many other objectives.
• Some of the recommendations were made like - use of Intelligent Transport System (ITS), adoption of the concept of Green Channel, adoption of Single Window Clearance System, Rationalize discretionary powers, National Permit System etc. ....
