India’s Dairy Sector
Significance
- Acts as a Buffer: During times of drought and flooding, milk animals protect farmers. Additionally, milk cows are dispersed among farmers more evenly than on agricultural land.
- Not a Seasonal Occupation: Dairying is not a seasonal occupation like farming. Milk and milk products may be produced all year round, generating money throughout the year.
- High in Nutrients: Milk is regarded as a "whole meal." Dairy products are incredibly nutritious and contain high levels of calcium and protein, helping to combat India's malnutrition problem. Because of this, a number of state governments are attempting to include milk in the midday meal ....
