UMMID and NIDAN
- UMMID (Unique methods of management and treatment of inherited disorders) is a Department of Biotechnology initiative aimed at creating awareness regarding genetic disorders amongst clinicians, layman and establishing molecular diagnostics in hospitals around the country.
- It works on 3 levels –
- Establishing NIDAN (National Inherited Diseases Administration) Kendras to provide counselling, prenatal testing and diagnosis, management, and multidisciplinary care in Government Hospitals wherein the influx of patients is more.
- Producing skilled clinicians in Human Genetics.
- Facilitating screening of pregnant women and new born babies for inherited genetic diseases in hospitals at aspirational districts.
- Five NIDAN Kendras have been established and 7 aspirational districts have been ....
