Government Expands RoDTEP Scheme
Recently, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry expanded the scope of Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme to make Indian exports more competitive globally by refunding various central, state and other local duties and taxes.
Key Points
- This decision comes in recognition of the significant contribution these sectors make to India's exports, constituting about 25 per cent of the total shipment.
- Outbound shipments from Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Export Oriented Units (EOUs), which account for about a quarter of India’s exports, will now be eligible for tax refunds under the RoDTEP Scheme.
