Sarus Crane
- Recently, a person from Uttar Pradesh was booked under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, for illegally keeping and nursing an injured sarus crane (Grus antigone).
- Sarus cranes are large non-migratory cranes found in parts of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia.
- They are a conspicuous species of open wetlands in South Asia, seasonally flooded dipterocarpus forests in Southeast Asia, and Eucalyptus-dominated woodlands and grasslands in Australia.
