Invasive Species

Organisms that cause ecological or economic harm in a new environment where they are not native are known as invasive species.

  • Lantana, which the British brought from South America as ornamental plants, and Parthenium, which sprang from wheat imported from the United States in the 1950s, respectively, threaten more than 40% of India's tiger reserves.
