Derecho Storm System
The American states of Minnesota, Nebraska, and Illinois were recently slammed by a "Derecho Storm System."
- A warm-weather occurrence is derecho. It usually starts in May and lasts into the summer. Typically, struck in June or July.
- In contrast to other storm systems like tornadoes or hurricanes, derechos are an uncommon phenomenon that mostly affects the central and eastern United States.
