Community Forest Rights
CFR are recognised under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act (FRA), 2006, which recognises and vests the forest rights and occupation in forest land in Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers who have been living in such forests for generations but whose right could not be recorded.
- It allows the community to formulate rules for forest use by itself and others.
- It gives the authority to the Gram Sabha to adopt local traditional practices of forest conservation and management within the community forest resource boundary.
