About:
- CERT-In is the national nodal agency for responding to computer security incidents as and when they occur.
- It performs following functions:
- Information collection and dissemination: Information on cyber incidents, issues forecasts and alerts on cyber security incidents.
- Issues guidelines: On emergency measures, vulnerabilities and best practices and procedures on information security.
- Coordination: It coordinates cyber incident response activities between other agencies.
Impact:
- Cyber surveillance: It generates data on cyber security incidents including phishing, network scanning and probing, virus or malicious code and website hacking.
