Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

About:

  • Funds are directly transferred into the bank accounts of beneficiaries which are authenticated by JAM i.e. Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhar and Mobile connectivity of recipients.
  • It is administered by the Cabinet Secretariat.

Impact:

  • Government efficacy: Brought efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability in the government system and has brought Reforms in the government delivery system and fund disbursal in welfare schemes.
  • Improved governance: Working towards ‘Maximum Governance Minimum Government’ through simplification of procedures and de-duplication of data.
