State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)

  • On 10th January 2025, the Union government permitted the Kerala government to utilize Rs.120 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for rehabilitation measures at Wayanad.
  • SDRF is the primary fund available with State Governments for responses to notified disasters.
  • It was established in 2005, under Section 48 (1) (a) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
  • Funding is based on the recommendations of the Financial Commissions.
  • SDRF covers the following disasters: Cyclones, droughts, earthquakes, fires, floods, tsunamis, hailstorms, landslides, avalanches, cloudbursts, pest attacks and frost and cold waves.
