​Glyptothorax punyabratai

  • Recently, ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR) announced a significant discovery of a new species of catfish, Glyptothorax punyabratai in the Brahmaputra River drainage system.
  • The holotype and paratype specimens of the new species are housed at the National Fish Museum-cum-Repository of ICAR-NBFGR, Lucknow.
  • The new species was named Glyptothorax punyabratai in honour of Dr. Punyabarata Das, the founder director of ICAR-NBFGR, for his significant contributions to fisheries ....
