Energy Transition in India
- As a signatory to the Paris Agreement, India is committed to reducing carbon emissions and combating climate change.
- 'National Action Plan on Climate Change' (NAPCC) was launched in the year 2008. Under this, a number of national missions were started whose aim is to reduce the impact of climate change.
- The objective of 'National Solar Mission', launched in the year 2010, is to adopt new energy technologies and keep the cost of production of solar power low.
- The government currently aims to create 500 GW of installed power generation capacity through 'non-carbon fuels' by 2030.
