Changing Role of PRIs
With the advent of COVID-19 and the ill dependence of PRIs on state/central assistance, the pandemic created havoc in Indian rural community. Thus, they need to take the centre stage and facilitate other actors in the developmental process of the village/region by becoming facilitator rather than a beneficiary. Instead of only waiting for central/state government directives on programmes and schemes, the PRIs must come up with innovative solutions to local problems and they must become financially independent.
