- Launched on January 11, 2010, Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Missionor the National Solar Mission,is one of the eight key National Mission’s which comprise India’s National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC).
Need
- Alternate to Fossil Fuels:With 35% of the global greenhouse gas emissions being directly or indirectly caused by electricity and heat generation, India along with other countries have looked to other means to reform their power sectors and replace fossil fuels with renewable energy generation. Solar power can foster energy security for India by reducing dependence on imported fuel.
