OIC’s Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan
On 19th December, 2021, at a meeting of Foreign Ministers from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), it was decided to establish a Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan.
- The initiative comes amid the growing economic crisis in Afghanistan with millions facing hunger in the country.
About the Fund
- The fund will be set up under the Islamic Development Bank to channel aid to Afghanistan in coordination with other groups.
- The meeting also called on the international community to provide urgent and sustained humanitarian aid to Afghanistan as well as to the countries housing Afghan refugees.
