  • Comet C/2023 A3, discovered by China’s Purple Mountain Observatory, is a non-periodic comet, meaning it has no predictable return.
  • The comet is visiting the Solar System after nearly 80,000 years and is traveling about 129.6 million kilometers away from Earth in the Sextans constellation.
  • The colorful sky, which some mistook for aurora lights, was due to the comet's iridescent glow.
